Description
Higher Sminhay Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse constructed with rubble walls that are rendered and in some areas roughcast. It features a half-hipped corrugated iron roof and a rendered brick stack located at the center of the ridge. The building has two storeys and includes three wooden casement windows with two and three lights, along with a plank door. Inside, the farmhouse boasts a full jointed-cruck roof construction with slip-tenons still in place. There are two large open fireplaces; one includes a bread oven on the left side, while the other has moulded stone jambs and a depressed-arch wooden lintel above. The interior also features brick blocking and a wooden spiral staircase. To the right, there is a stable extension that has rubble walls and a corrugated iron roof.
