Description

Manor Cottage is a late 18th-century house, with possible earlier origins. It is built of stone rubble walls, which have been rendered and painted, and has a Roman-tile roof with stone-coped gable ends. The house features two 20th-century brick stacks, one at each gable. The symmetrical front facade has two storeys and three windows, each with vertical sash windows, wooden frames, and glazing bars. A four-panelled front door is centrally located, and it is complemented by a fine semi-circular fanlight above. Inside, an elliptical wooden arch-head is visible in the staircase hall, and the staircase features a wooden handrail and square balusters. A catslide roof extends to the rear over a 20th-century extension. A loose datestone, inscribed ‘T:H 1801’, is kept inside. The property is approached by a cast-iron gate and railings to the front garden.
