Description
The service wing of Byram Hall, located to the west of the coach house and stables, dates from the late 18th century and features later additions and alterations. It was designed by John Carr. The building is constructed of rendered brick and sandstone ashlar, with ashlar and red gauged brick dressings. It stands three storeys tall and has nine bays.
On the ground floor, alternate bays at the rear have entrances framed in ashlar, featuring six-panel doors, while the second bay has a 20th-century door. The remaining bays contain 12-pane sash windows with radial glazing in the heads. The first and second floors also have 12-pane sashes with ashlar sills and flat arches made of red gauged brick. A cornice runs along the top, and a low parapet conceals the roof. The main part of the house has been demolished, and the service wing is currently disused and in a dilapidated state. This building is included for its group value.
