Description
The Coach House at Norton Place is a building dating from 1776, designed by John Carr, with some minor alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped slate roof with lead dressings. The building is single storey and has an 11-bay front arranged in a 4:3:4 configuration, with the central bays being taller and slightly set forward from the flanking bays. There is a continuous plinth and an impost band across the middle three bays, which contain three tall semi-circular headed carriage arches, each fitted with 20th-century doors. On the left side, there is a single six-panel door with a glazing bar overlight, followed by three windows that have louvred lower sections and glazing bars above. On the right side, there is a 20th-century glazing bar door with an overlight, and beyond that, three glazing bar sash windows. All openings in the building are topped with flat arches.
