Description

The bridge over the lakes at Norton Place, built in 1776 by John Carr, is a Grade II* listed structure. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a hump-backed design with three spans. The bridge has curved abutments and three semi-circular headed arches, each adorned with reeded architraves, square imposts, and rusticated piers. The abutments end in circular piers that have roundel decorations. Although the parapet has mostly collapsed, a drawing by Nattes from 1793, found in the Banks Collection, illustrates that it originally had a panelled balustraded parapet.
