Description
The building is a barn at Spital Almshouse, originally a hospice, dating from 1619 with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with some red brick and stock brick, and features a pantile roof. The north side has a large rectangular opening that has been blocked with rubble and brick. There is a large buttress on the left and a cartouche that has been re-set, inscribed with the date 1619. The east end displays quoins and a beribboned shield that has been re-set, along with an illegible inscription on the plaque below. The south wall contains a blocked opening with an elliptical head. This building is included for its group value only.
