Description
The gateway to the west of the service wing of Byram Hall is a monumental structure dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a cast-iron gate. The design is in the Jacobethan style, characterized by a scrolled gate set within a rusticated round-arched surround. This arch is adorned with a mask keystone and flanked by pilasters that have decorative capitals topped with ram's heads. The gateway also includes a cornice and an ornamental infilled strapwork crown that rises to a pinnacle, complete with ball finials at the corners.
