Description
This milestone, located approximately 0.4 miles east of the junction with the A162 in Monk Fryston, North Yorkshire, dates from the 19th century. It is made of ashlar stone with a cast-iron facade and has a triangular shape with a semi-circular top. The milestone stands about 1.25 metres high and features a raised inscription painted in black against a white background. The text around the head reads "SELBY AND LEEDS / TURNPIKE ROAD," while the east face indicates "LEEDS / 13 / MILES" and the west face states "SELBY / 7 / MILES."
