Description
This is a memorial dedicated to Alice and Jonas Walbank, located approximately 20 metres south of the Church of St Jude. It was erected in memory of Alice, who passed away in 1821, and Jonas, who died in 1832. The memorial is made of sandstone and features an inscribed stone surrounded by carved panels that display fan and rosette motifs, with solid end and top panels. The decoration includes fine fluted and moulded details. The deeply cut inscription reads: "SACRED / To the Memory of Alice the wife of / Jonas Walbank of Brimham Lodge, who died / April 26th 1821 Aged 45 years. / Also the above named Jonas Walbank who died / April 24th 1832 Aged 58 Years. / Children dear for us do not weep. / Since we in Christ do sweetly sleep. / We leave the World, a World of Pain. / in Bliss assur'd to rise again."
