Description
The Church of St Jude is a church built in 1751 and enlarged in 1830, located in Hartwith-cum-Winsley. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The church has a four-bay nave with an added south porch and a one-bay chancel. There are three pointed-arched windows on the nave and a doorway leading to the chancel, with hoodmoulds on the added porch and chancel. The building includes shaped kneelers, gable copings, and a stone bellcote at the west end of the nave. The interior was refurbished in 1878. The church was established through the contributions of local landowners and tenants as a detached chapelry of the parish of Kirkby Malzard. The east end, which includes a vestry and sexton's room, was added in 1830. In 1878, the church was made suitable for divine service, which included the construction of a chancel arch, and it was rededicated to St Jude in 1891.
