Description
School House is a building from the late 17th to early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble and features a graduated stone slate roof, with a purple slate roof on the lower bay. The house has two storeys and three bays, with a single-storey bay attached on the right side.
The central entrance is a panelled door located to the right of the centre, framed by a moulded surround and topped with a shallow Tudor-style arch over a deep lintel that shows traces of an inscription. This is sheltered by a stone hood made of three flat slabs. To the left of the door is an original three-light recessed-chamfered mullion window. The other windows have had their mullions removed and now feature wooden frames with small panes inserted into the original openings.
The single-storey bay on the right has a half-glazed four-panel door in a quoined surround with a large lintel, and there is a small window to the left. There is also a brick outbuilding attached to the far left, but it is not considered of special interest.
