Description
The Old Vicarage is a vicarage that has been converted into a private house, built between 1798 and 1800 and enlarged in 1832. It is constructed of coursed, squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, featuring quoins. A central 19th-century porch with glazed double doors covers the original entrance, which includes a fanlight and a hood made of two pitched stone slabs supported by shaped console-brackets. Throughout the building, there are four-pane sash windows in stone surrounds with projecting sills, with the first-floor windows being almost square. The roof has gable coping, and there are end and central stacks. On the right return, which faces Chapel Lane, there is a band at the eaves level and a semicircular recess in the gable.
