SJ8398SE ST ANN STREET 698-1/27/385 (South side) Allen monument south of apse at east end of Church of St Ann

Tomb chest. Dated 1773. Commemorates Joseph Allen (d.1769), his wife Alice (d.1742), and their children John (d.1726, aged 2), Sam (d.1736, aged 6), John (d.1754, aged 22), Joseph (d.1756, aged 29), Thomas (d.1758, aged 23), and Alice (d.1759, aged 21). Sandstone. Raised fielded panels to the sides and ends, plain lid with the above information inscribed in a vertical list, followed by the inscription: "As a Testimony of Duty / And Affection to his Honoured Parents / And of Love to his Brothers & Sister / Will.m Allen of Davy-Hulme / Erected this Tomb 1773".
