Description

Wynn Farmhouse is a house that was originally built as a farmhouse and smithy in the late 17th to early 18th century, with later raising and remodelling in the 20th century. The front is made of squared stone, raised in dressed stone, while the left gable wall features coursed rubble and re-used stone. The right gable wall is constructed of variegated brick in stretcher bond, topped with a pantile roof and brick stacks. The original layout was a three-cell hearth-passage plan, with the smithy located at the right end and an outshut at the rear. The building is two storeys high, with a two-window arrangement on the left end and a single-window low end. A 20th-century stable door is located at the low end, next to a two-light, 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash window, with a two-light, 8-pane casement window above it. The high end features two-light, small pane casements, and all window openings have painted timber lintels. There is an uncarved datestone above the ground-floor window to the right of the high end. The end stacks are positioned at the high end and the right end of the low end. Inside, the ground floor has chamfered and stopped beams, along with square section joists throughout. In the ground-floor room at the low end, there are two cupboards with plank doors on H-L hinges.
