Description

Ryton Grange is a farmhouse dating to 1799, with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, topped with a pantile roof and rebuilt brick stacks. The property follows a central-stairhall plan, with a depth of one-and-a-half rooms. The front facade has two storeys and three windows. The front door features six recessed panels above a round arch with a fanlight. It has four-pane sash windows with stone sills and wedge lintels throughout. A raised band marks the first floor. The gables are coped, and the roof features shaped kneelers. There are stacks at each end. On the left gable wall, the initials RIWG are shaped by the ends of the tie rods. On the right gable wall, the date 1799 is similarly shaped by the tie rod ends.
