Description
The building is a smithy, cart-shed, and stables located at the corner of Wandle Lane in Great Barugh. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone some later alterations. The structure is made of squared limestone with irregular quoins and features a pantile roof with brick stacks. It is a single-storey building with a five-bay front. There are double board doors positioned to the left of the center. The right end has a board door flanked by glazed louvre windows with stone sills, all under a continuous lintel. Stacks are located at the right end and in the center of the building. On the left side, there are two stable doors, each accompanied by a slatted window to the left. The right side has a glazed louvre window on the left and a shuttered window on the right. An iron sign on the gable end advertises "LACTIFER FOR CALVES."
