Description

This is a mile-post from the late 19th century, made by Grove Works in Barnard Castle. It is constructed from white-painted cast iron and features black-painted raised lettering. The mile-post has a triangular shape and stands approximately 0.55 metres high. The left and right faces indicate distances to Malton and Kirbymoorside, showing 7 and 6 miles respectively. The sloping upper face displays the initials NR Y CC along with the maker's name.
