Description

This is a milepost from the late 19th century, created by Mattesons of Bedale. It is made of cast iron and was originally painted. The milepost has a triangular shape and stands approximately 1 meter high, featuring a sloped upper face and a semicircular backplate. The backplate is stamped with "NORTH RIDING OF YORKSHIRE." The left face displays "MALTON | 1 | arrow>| YORK | 19," while the right face shows "PICKERING | 7-1/2."
