Description
Old Malton Methodist Church is a Primitive Methodist chapel, now serving as a Methodist Church, built in 1857 with 20th-century alterations. The building features rough-cast brick on a rendered brick plinth, with coped gable ends, shaped kneelers, and roll-moulded finials on a shallow-pitched slate roof. It has a one-storey gable end facing Town Street, with the entrance located on Lascelles Lane. The front has three stepped round-arched lights set in triple-keyed raised architraves, featuring round-headed Gothick glazing. A painted stone sillband is supported by block brackets. In the gable end, there is a radial-glazed oculus with a louvred centre, positioned beneath a triple-keyed semicircular band that is inscribed with "PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHAPEL, 1857," with a datestone below. The right return displays a one-storey, three-bay front, featuring panelled double doors with a radial-glazed fanlight in a central gabled porch with a round-arched opening. The flanking windows are round-arched, also with round-headed Gothick glazing and painted stone sills.
