Mile-post. Late C19. Probably by Mattisons of Bedale. Cast iron. Triangular on plan with semicircular head. Inscriptions. Left face: PICKERING 4½ SCARBORO Right face: KIRBYMOORSIDE 3 HELMSLEY Sloping upper face: PICKERING RDC Semicircular head: NORTH RIDING OF YORKSHIRE The mile-post stands on the old road through the village, which was superseded by a by-pass of 1938.
