Description
This milepost, located approximately 300 metres south-west of Coney Hill Farm, dates from the late 19th century and was made by Mattisons of Bedale. It is constructed from cast iron and features a triangular section with a sloping upper surface. The left face of the milepost has the inscription "Helmsley 7 miles" beneath a pointing hand, while the right face displays "York 16 miles" also below a pointing hand. The sloping upper face is marked with "Ryedale H.D.", and the manufacturer's name is found on the rear.
