Description

The gateposts and railings to Gilling Castle, dating from the early 18th century, are made of limestone and wrought iron. The structure features a pair of gateposts that are approximately 3 metres high, each composed of six bulbous blocks resting on a plain base, topped with carved lions. These gateposts are flanked by railings set on low curved and angled walls. The low walls have moulded upper courses that support wrought-iron railings adorned with elaborate floral designs at the corners.
