Description

Gilling Bridge is a bridge that was widened in 1800 by John Carr. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a single span with a smaller arch over a culvert to the south. Both arches are supported by buttresses, with the buttresses of the central arch extending through a band that carries a plain coped parapet. The bridge has cylindrical drums at either end. The York Georgian Society referenced it in "The Works in Architecture by John Carr" published in 1973.
