Description

This is a milepost located north of the road to Ugthorpe Village, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a forward-sloping triangular top. The left face of the milepost indicates a distance of 9 miles to Whitby, while the right face shows 13 miles to Guisborough. Each side features pointing hands above the distances, and the top panel is marked with NY/RCC. The milepost is painted white, with the lettering and design highlighted in black.
