Description

This is a milepost located 200 meters south-west of Travellers' Rest Farm, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a forward-sloping triangular top. The left face of the milepost indicates a distance of 8 miles to Whitby, while the right face shows 14 miles to Guisboro. There are pointing hands above each distance, and the top panel features the initials NY/RCC. The milepost is painted white, with the lettering and design highlighted in black.
