Description

This is a mile post located south of the junction of High Normanby Road, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a forward-sloping top. The left face of the post displays the distance to Scarborough as 17 miles, while the right face shows the distance to Whitby as 4 miles. Above each distance, there are relief designs of trees, and on the top panel, it reads "Whitby Strand UD." The mile post is painted white, with the lettering and designs highlighted in black.
