Description
Hooks House is a farmhouse, likely built in the third quarter of the 18th century, consisting of two sections. The left part is constructed of ashlar, while the right part, which may have been raised in the early 19th century, features herringbone-tooled stone over a roughly-tooled ground floor. The building has a pantiled roof with stone features and brick chimneys.
The left section has two storeys and two windows, with an off-centre panelled door beneath a lintel that has a narrow chamfer. The ground floor has replaced tripartite sash windows, and the first floor has replaced 20-pane sashes, all featuring extended keyed lintels and projecting cills. The right section includes a four-panel door and a boarded door with a glazed panel, with a tripartite sash window in between and a small fixed light to the right. Above, there are two 20-pane sashes. Both sections have first-floor bands and stone gable copings on curved kneelers. The older part has end chimneys, while the right part has a rebuilt ridge and right end stacks. The rear elevation has four wide bays with irregular and varied windows.
Inside, there is a boxed and corniced fire beam in the dining room and a small cupboard on the right.
