Description

FYLINGDALES THORPE ROAD NZ 9405 Robin Hood's Bay (north side) 16/218 War memorial to south of Church of St Stephen GV II World War I memorial, 1919 or later. Sandstone. Saxon cross form on tall sloped base. Cable-moulded borders and interlace panels, those on shaft with high-relief figures of St George and a recording angel. Arms of cross have bosses among interlace. Inscribed on lower part of shaft: "Remember the love of them who cam not home from the war". Below this a copper plate with names of World War II dead. Names of World War I dead inscribed on base.
