Description
Holme Dale and Sunny Vale are a pair of houses located in Robin Hood's Bay, dating from the earlier and late 18th century, with a date of 1709/10 noted. The right-hand part of Holme Dale is built from fine herringbone-tooled sandstone, which extends to the left and is raised to a three-storey height using similar margined stonework. The houses feature a pantiled roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. Each house has three storeys and one wide bay.
Holme Dale, on the right, has a six-panel door located under a gabled bracketed hood. The ground and first floors have 16-pane sash windows, while the second floor features a 9-pane sash, all with projecting cills. Sunny Vale has a four-panel door beneath an inscribed stone of uncertain age, stating that it was built in the eighth year of the reign of her late Majesty Queen Anne. It has a modern wood door surround with a bracketed top, and the windows are similar to those of Holme Dale. Both houses have a stack on the left side, and the kneelers display different patterns.
