Description
2 The Bolts is a house located in Robin Hood's Bay, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of finely-coursed sandstone that is nearly ashlar in quality, topped with a pantiled roof featuring stone copings, kneelers, and chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a slightly irregular two-bay layout.
The entrance is off-centre, featuring a six-panel door with a cornice head and a blocked radial fanlight, all sheltered by a bracketed wooden hood with an open pediment. On both floors, there are 16-pane sash windows with projecting cills. The dormer at the eaves is square-headed, containing a six-pane fixed light and a six-pane sliding window, with a bracketed soffit. The building also features flattish curved kneelers and banded end chimneys.
