Description

This is a house dating from around 1840, located in Martin's Row, Robin Hood's Bay. It is constructed of coursed sandstone featuring fine herringbone tooling. The roof is covered in pantiles, with a stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and chimneys. The building has a distinctive flat-iron shaped corner on the right-hand side.

The house has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with three bays. A flight of three steps leads to a centrally located four-panel door, which has an overlight and is set within a doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment. Cast-iron handrails are present. To either side of the door are sixteen-pane sash windows. A glazed door has been inserted at the far right. The first floor has two sixteen-pane sashes and a twelve-pane sash on the right. A large modern dormer window has been added in the roof. Moulded kneelers are present, and the cornice has banded end chimneys.
