Description
Laurel Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone, featuring a vertically-tooled band. The roof is pantiled, with stone coping and a kneeler, and there is a brick chimney stack. The building has two storeys and an attic, with one wide bay.
On the right side, there is a replacement six-panel door that is sheltered by a cornice hood supported by brackets. On the left side, both floors have margined sashes with projecting cills. A band runs along the first floor, and there is a coved eaves course. The attic features a square-headed dormer with a Yorkshire sash. The broad coping on the shaped kneeler and the chimney located on the left side are additional notable features. This cottage is included for its group value.
