Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with later alterations. It features a dressed sandstone front with flush quoins, set on a brick plinth, and has variegated brick returns in English garden wall bond. The roof is slate with brick stacks. The building has a central-entry plan and is 1½ rooms deep, with a two-storey, three-window front. The entrance consists of a six-panel door beneath a divided overlight, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there are two-light, eight-pane horizontal-sliding sashes. All windows have painted stone sills, with painted wedge lintels over the ground-floor openings and painted keyblock lintels over the first floor. The eaves cornice projects, and the gables are coped with shaped kneelers and end stacks.
