Description
This milestone, located approximately 10 metres north of the junction with Byram Park Road, dates from the 19th century. It is made of ashlar with a cast-iron facade and has a triangular shape with a semi-circular head, standing about 1 metre high. The centre features the inscription 'BRAYSHAW & BOOTH / MAKERS / LIVERSEDGE'. The raised lettering is painted black on a white background, displaying the following distances: 'TADCASTER & DONCASTER / ROAD / BROTHERTON' around the head, and on the north side, 'DONCASTER / 16 MILES / FERRYBRIDGE / 1 MILE / PONTEFRACT ¾ MILES', while the south side lists 'BOROBRIDGE / 28 MILES / YORK / 20¾ MILES / TADCASTER / 11¼ MILES'.
