Description

The walls, gates, and piers adjoining the offices to John Smith's on High Street and Malt Tower and offices on Centre Lane were built around 1883 by Scammell & Collier of Leeds. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and wrought iron. On the left side, there is a 3-meter wall, while the right side features a 15-meter wall, with gates and piers situated between them. The piers and gates are similar to those at the Enquiries office, but they include the inscription 'J. SMITH THE BREWERY' on the overthrow. Both walls have a plinth, and the left wall features a pedimented pedestrian opening with a wrought-iron gate that has two levels of bars topped with lance heads and a monogram 'J S'. The right wall contains seven blind openings, and both walls have coping.
