Description
This milestone, located approximately 10 metres west of Fox Lane in Thorpe Willoughby, is likely from the early 19th century. It is a stone post that stands about 0.75 metres high and has a triangular shape with a round-arched top. The milestone features a cast iron plaque with an inscription in relief, painted black on a white background. The west face reads "LEEDS / 18 / MILES," while the inscription around the head states "SELBY AND LEEDS / TURNPIKE ROAD."
