Description
This is a rectangular range of buildings from the early 19th century, located opposite Thorpe Hall. It consists of stables, an open cart shed, a barn, a wall, a pump, and a basin, all built from brown brick with pitched pantile roofs and coped gables. At the south end, two two-storey stable buildings flank a courtyard. The north and south sides of the courtyard are enclosed by an open cart shed supported by cylindrical brick piers and a low wall, which features a contemporary lead pump and a monolithic ashlar basin. The east stable has ventilation slits on the first floor, arranged under two-centred relieving arches. The east elevation also displays relieving arches on the ground floor and a brick modillion eaves cornice. Both stables extend northward to create a second courtyard on the north side of the cart shed. The barn located to the north of the east stable has ventilation holes arranged in lozenge patterns.
