Description

Walmsley House is a house dated 1816, as indicated by a plaque. It is constructed of gault brick with ashlar dressings, a wooden cornice, and a slate roof. The house follows a central hallway plan and has two storeys and three windows on the first floor. A flight of two steps leads to a central wooden door with six panels, which sits beneath a patterned radial fanlight. The door is set within a pilastered doorcase, topped with a triglyph and metope frieze and a pediment. Early 20th-century casement windows are found throughout, each with a flat brick arch and stone sills. The eaves feature a modillion cornice, and the roof is hipped with ridge stacks. Inside, the ground floor rooms have shutters, and the original staircase remains.
