Description
West Lodge is a gatehouse built around 1814. It is constructed from gault brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The building is single storey and has two windows, with an entrance located in a central projecting bay that has a pediment. Access is provided by two stone steps leading to a four-panel wooden door, which is topped by an oblong fanlight with glazing bars and set beneath a flat brick arch. The entrance is sheltered by a flat hood supported by moulded consoles. The windows are four-pane sashes, positioned under cambered gauged brick arches and have stone cills. The lodge also features moulded ashlar eaves, a cornice, and a low parapet, along with a hipped roof and a central stack.
