Near Goat Gap Farmhouse With Barn And Shippon Adjoining

Near Goat Gap Farmhouse, which now serves as a barn and shippon, dates from the late 17th century with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of slobbered rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The original farmhouse is a two-storey structure with two bays, accompanied by a two-bay extension added around 1700 on the left side. The entrance is located in the second bay and has a stone porch topped with a corrugated iron roof. The porch features a plain surround and a plank door.

On the left side of the ground floor, there is a double-chamfered 2-light window with sashes and a wooden mullion, complete with a hoodmould. To the right, there are two former 2-light chamfered windows, both of which have missing mullions. The left window has a 12-pane fixed light, while the right window has been deepened to create an entrance with a plank door, and both windows have a hoodmould above them with scrolled stops.

The upper floor contains three former 2-light double-chamfered mullioned windows, all of which now lack mullions and feature 8-pane sashes. The building has two ridge stacks, with the right-hand stack positioned at the junction with the 18th-century barn, which is two storeys high and has one bay. Inside the c1700 farmhouse extension, there is a fireplace with moulded jambs and a stone lintel supported by two corbels inscribed with "B 1700." To the left of the farmhouse extension is the 18th-century shippon, which is also two storeys and has one bay.
