Description
CLAPHAM-CUM-NEWBY SD 77 SW 3/2 Near Goat Gap Farmhouse with barn and shippon adjoining - II Formerly farmhouse, now barn and shippon. Late C17 with C18 and C20 alterations. Slobbered rubble, stone dressings, stone slate roof. Late C17 two-storey, 2 bay farmhouse with c1700 two bay extension to left. Entrance in second bay has stone porch with corrugated iron roof. Plain surround; plank door. Left-hand ground floor double chamfered 2-light window with sashes and wooden mullion; hoodmould. To right are 2 ground-floor former 2-light chamfered windows, both with mullions missing. Left-hand window has 12-pane fixed light and right-hand window was deepened to form an entrance; plank door; hoodmould over both windows, with scrolled stops. On upper floor are 3 former 2-light double-chamfered mullioned windows, all with mullions now missing and 8-pane sashes. 2 ridge stacks, right-hand one now at junction with C18 barn of 2 storeys, 1 bay. Interior of c1700 farmhouse extension contains fireplace with moulded jambs and stone lintel on 2 corbels inscribed B 1700. To left is C18 shippon, 2 storeys, 1 bay. R E
