Description

Town End Farmhouse and the adjoining farm building to the south are located in Crayke and date from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of reddish-brown local brick and features a 3-course band at the first floor. The lower part of the north side has sandstone quoins. It has a pantile roof with chimneys at each end and is two storeys high with two bays. The entrance on the end has a 4-panel door set beneath a flat brick arch. There are modern casement windows under brick soldier arches, and above the entrance, there are remains of a bricked-up window. The south gable shows signs of tumbled-in brickwork.

Adjoining the farmhouse to the south is a farm building, likely a former stable and hayloft, built in the early 19th century. This building is also made of reddish-brown brick and has a pantile roof. It is two storeys tall and features a wagon entrance to the left, along with remains of several segmental brick arches. There are three first-floor windows that still have their wooden shutters. The buildings are included for their group value.
