Description
The Homestead is a house dated 1782, as indicated by iron ties on the gable end. It was built for William Bayston and features red and brown local brick arranged in decorative Flemish bond. The house has a stone plinth on the right and a swept pantile roof with ashlar coping and kneelers, along with end stacks. It is two storeys high and has three bays, with a central break-forward. The windows are sixteen-pane sashes set in flush wood architraves, complete with painted lintels and keyblocks. There are stone steps leading to a central six-panel door, which has an oblong fanlight with margin lights in the architrave. A stepped three-course band runs along the first floor, and there is a stepped and dentilled eaves cornice.
