BIRKBY off BIRKBY LANE Garden cottage to the south west of Birkby Manor

II Cottage and attached privy, former outbuilding. Late C18 and C19. Red brick with pantile roofs and a single gable stack, ashler coped gables. North front has central round arch, now bricked in with an off-centre C19 four-panel door, to the left a large garage doorway with double plank doors, to the right a glazing bar sash. Gabled west front has two-light glazing bar sliding sash to right and above two narrow plain sashes. Rear wing contains privies or earth closets one approached from the east (garden) front, and the other from the west (cottage) front. Included for group value only.
