Description
The plant container, located approximately 90 metres north-north-west of Atlas Fountain at Castle Howard, is a Grade II listed structure likely designed in the early 19th century by C. H. Tatham. Made of limestone, it has an oval shape measuring about 5 metres by 2 metres and stands 2 metres tall. The design features two steps leading up to a concave gadrooned base, which is adorned with beaded moulding. Above this base is a convex gadrooned plant container decorated with acanthus leaves. This structure is included in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission's Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England, specifically noted for its significance in North Yorkshire at Castle Howard, which is a Grade I site.
