Description
The Statue of the First Marquess of Ripon, created in 1912 by sculptor F Derwentwood, ARA, is a life-size bronze statue depicting the Marquess in an informal pose while wearing Court dress and Garter Robes. It stands on an ashlar plinth with two steps and features concave panelled front and rear sections that include inscriptions. Scrolled consoles and swags are positioned on either side of the statue. The Marquess, who resided at Studley Royal, served as both the Viceroy of India and the Mayor of Ripon.
