Description
Nos 5 and 6 Skell Bank are a pair of town houses built in 1826. They are constructed of brick and feature a slate roof with a central ridge stack and a bracketed eaves cornice. The buildings are three stories tall with a basement and have four bays. The south front includes two glazing bar sash windows at the basement level, with two similar windows above. On either side of these windows are doors that are accessed by flights of seven stone steps. The doors are six-panel with overlights and have moulded stucco surrounds with patera. Above these doors are four glazing bar sashes, and above that, there are four more similar sashes. All windows have painted lintels.
The interior of No 5 contains a contemporary staircase with a single flight return and turned balusters, most of its original doors and doorcases, and window surrounds with shutters. The dining room features two finely detailed round-headed alcoves, and there are some original fireplaces, plaster ceilings, and cupboards that have also survived.
