Description

Manor House Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century and altered in 1743, is a farmhouse with an attached outbuilding located on the north side of Grantley Road in Winksley. The building is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble, with stone slate and pantile roofs. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features three first-floor windows.

To the left of the centre, there is a board door set in a chamfered stone surround with a heavy lintel inscribed with the letter 'A' and the initials 'I M'. The ground floor has 3-light side-sliding sash windows with glazing bars, dating from 1743, which have chamfered stone sills and re-used stone surrounds. The first-floor windows do not have sills. The building is adorned with shaped kneelers and gritstone gable coping, along with a large stack positioned above the door and an external stack on the right gable.

Inside, there is a large fireplace with a mantel beam in the central room. The roof features four trusses, each with a pair of heavy principals that have collars halved into them. The attached outbuilding includes two stable doors on the south side and an external stair leading to a door in the gable end.
