Description
Nos 17 and 18 on Regent Parade are an earlier 19th-century pair of shops that stand three storeys tall, each with two windows. They feature a slated roof and are constructed from squared, coursed grit stone rubble, with painted sill bands. The recessed sash windows have glazing bars. The ground floor is painted and has wooden shopfronts supported by pilasters that carry an entablature. The shop windows have columnette mullions and semi-elliptical leaded lights. There are round and arched doorways with imposts, keys, radial fanlights, and raised and fielded panel doors that include cast iron lion-headed knockers.
No 19 is also an earlier 19th-century shop, rising three storeys with dormers and three windows. It has a hipped slated roof with projecting eaves and a painted stone front. The recessed sash windows feature glazing bars. The wooden double shopfront has pilasters supporting an entablature, with projecting shop windows that have columnette mullions and semi-elliptical arched heads with large panes. The doorways for both the house and shop include fanlights and panelled doors.
Together, Nos 1 to 19 on Regent Parade form a group.
