Description

This is a pair of late 18th-century shops at 29 and 30 Regent Parade. The buildings are two storeys high with a semi-basement. Each shop has a single window. They have a slated roof with coped gables, a central ridge stack, and kneelers. The exterior is constructed of squared, coursed gritstone rubble. The first-floor windows are flush-framed sash windows with glazing bars. The shops feature well-preserved segmental, bowed windows with pilasters supporting an entablature and dentil cornice, along with original small panes (30 lights). Round-arched shop doorways have voussoirs, architraves, and raised and fielded panel doors, accessed by steps with wrought iron railings. The buildings are designated as a Grade II* listed building, particularly for the quality of their shopfronts. Nos 29, 30 and 35 Regent Parade form a group.
