Description
The Spirit Safe at the County Hotel is an early 19th-century spirit store, with minor 20th-century alterations, located adjacent to the hotel. It is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings, and has a slate hipped roof. The building is single-storied and features a stone plinth. The main north front has three openings: two glazing bar sash windows to the left and a former window to the right, now converted into a doorway with a 20th-century part-glazed door. The left return side has a single central wall stack with small square windows on either side, set within flush ashlar surrounds. Historically, this spirit store also served as accommodation for the hotel proprietor when the hotel was full.
